As a reminder, Peoria Unified School District is having their Governing Board meeting tomorrow.
It’s time to seize on our momentum! Last week, a Christian nationalist extremist board member quit, and there’s a good chance secular activists are partly to thank.
Tomorrow, an agenda item will include a motion whether to approve a collaboration between the district and Maricopa County Department of Public Health to help families get vaccines. We think you can imagine what extremists might be showing up to say about that.
In any case, we can also expect the usual public testimony from the far right about things not on the agenda, such as bathrooms, transgender students, God, “obscene” books… etc. We’re finally starting to match their numbers now, though. Let’s keep it up! Show up to counter the hate speech, or speak up against Board Member Heather Rooks’ racism last meeting.
We also need help simply watching and writing summaries of these school board meetings. If you can help, let us know!
