Republicans are drumming up white Christian nationalists to swarm the February 23rd meeting of Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD).
Why? They’re protesting the district’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies over trumped-up concerns about “critical race theory.” Moreover, they’re taking issue with a Tweet made by board member Kerry Baker, which factually declared:
“CRT. Is. Not. Taught. In. Our. Schools. It’s called history and diversity, and it is vital to raising productive members of society. We are not a society of White Christians.”
Attacking Baker over this truth is nothing more than an attempt to bully, harass, and intimidate a board member for taking a stand against hate. The radical right has been pushing political opponents out of board seats this way—we must let defenders of reason on the board know they are supported.
What you can do:
Show up for Thursday’s school board meeting. Get there early and fill up the seats with supporters of reason before the protestors can entrench themselves! And speak up in support of Kerry Baker and DEI.
Meeting details:
Paradise Valley Unified School District
15002 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix 85032
Doors open at 6:30 PM (get there early)
If you do nothing else, just fill a seat. If you can, fill out a comment form by 6:55 PM. (A form must be filled in to be heard from the podium.) Let the PVUSD board know your position on DEI and CRT.
If you cannot attend in-person, contact the Governing Board here.
