BREAKING: Magical sugar pills are not as effective as actual medicine!

This past September, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued warning letters to eight companies for manufacturing or marketing unapproved eye drops in violation of federal law. The eye drops in question, which include the brands EzriCare, Delsam, and Similasan, claim to be “homeopathic eye drop solutions” that purport to relieve dry eyes, pink eye, cataracts, styes, allergy symptoms, and computer eyes.

The problem? Homeopathy is a nonsensical, unregulated junk science and these eye drops can actually harm people. Continue reading

In 1965, a group of high school students were suspended for wearing black armbands to school in protest of the Vietnam War. This sparked the landmark decision Tinker v. Des Moines, in which the Supreme Court declared that students do not shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. Action Alert: Protest Against Anti-Drag Bills

Three state bills under consideration target drag performers, including:

  • SB1026, banning the state from using public money for performances that include drag (which would extend to school performances of plays like Rent)
  • SB1028, limiting adult cabaret performances and locations where they can be held
  • SB1030, a series of regulations on such matters as the hours of operation and facilities that can perform drag show

Eight years ago, we were told that legislative leadership and members thought that our advocacy group for people who believe in separation of church and state was “just a few people sitting in a room” and not to be taken seriously. We decided it was time to organize “Secular Day at the Capitol” to show that support for secular government is more than just a few people sitting in a room, it’s a movement!

Help Guard a Secular Holiday Display at the State Capitol!

Our friends at Freedom from Religion Foundation have a long history of helping local secular groups counter Christian displays on government properties. Last year, a nativity banner was displayed on the AZ Capitol lawn. This year, FFRF’s local chapter wants to respond!
