Learn how you can get involved and make a difference by helping the homeless… with no strings attached.
Sheila Krueger has a long history of volunteer service, starting with Girl Scout cookie sales, UNICEF Halloween collection boxes, and March of Dimes walks. She was recently awarded the Workforce Mental Health Leader of the Year.
This longtime passion for mental health led to joining Atheists Helping the Homeless-Phoenix in 2016. The group started with a small group of acquaintances who brought what they had collected to parks in the downtown Phoenix area for the unhoused.
Over the past seven years, we have built AHH-Phoenix from a monthly hodge-podge of items, to a twice-a-month distribution of toiletries, hygiene items, t-shirts, and socks. These items are obtained by way of an Amazon wish list, cash donations, and grants.
The giveaways are staffed by an amazing team of volunteers, with a core team of regulars and a fantastic phalanx of people who come and go as their schedules and lives allow.
