On the Road: Phoenix Atheist Meetup Group

The Secular Coalition for Arizona (Secular AZ) is often invited to speak to community groups around Arizona with an interest in promoting secular government.  One such group is the social Phoenix Atheist Meetup Group who hosted a gathering with our Director of Government Affairs, Tory Anderson, at a recent meetup in Scottsdale.  The event was well-attended and relaxed.  Tory enjoyed good conversation with the attendees as she introduced Secular AZ to them.  "Not into politics?" she asked, "Then let me be your eyes at the Capitol."

Emphasizing the importance of secular government down to the regional and local level is a primary function at the Secular Coalition for Arizona (Secular AZ).  To achieve that goal, we spend time in Arizona communities throughout the state educating citizens on the pertinence of church and state separation principles, and how they affect everyone, religious or not.

We are highlighting each of our supporting groups in our "On the Road with Secular AZ" series of articles here at for our members to follow along.

The Governor rejected Secular Coalition for Arizona’s request for a proclamation, but the group will nonetheless be collaborating with local nontheistic communities to organize events as part of a larger countrywide movement advocating a National Day of Reason.
